About

Welcome — My name is Kira Boyd, the voice behind The Dichotomy Project. I created this space because I’ve always lived in the in-between: between cultures, passions, and versions of myself. My mother is Vietnamese, my father African American, and I’ve carried that duality into everything I do — from studying biomedical sciences to chasing creativity through writing, from working late nights in nightlife to waking up early to train for endurance races.

For a long time, I saw these contradictions as flaws, as if I had to choose one path and abandon the rest. But I’ve come to believe that life isn’t either/or — it’s both/and. The tension between opposites is where depth and meaning live.

This blog is my attempt to document that truth. Here you’ll find reflections on travel, mental health, creativity, identity, and the messy, imperfect process of growth. Some posts will be deeply personal, others more practical — but all will be rooted in honesty.

My hope is that this space doesn’t just tell my story but grows into something bigger — a place where you can see your own experiences reflected, where contradictions feel less like conflicts and more like expansion.

Welcome to The Dichotomy Project. I’m glad you’re here.
